Happy Memorial Day everyone! I’m sure many of you have big plans to BBQ with friends and/or family. Chris and I will be laying low today. I think this is the first Memorial Day that we have zero plans. Had we not just returned from vacation we probably would have headed to the  beach or something. I am looking forward to having nothing to do today! Perhaps I’ll head to the pool to read?

So remember how I was telling you how hilly the roads in St. John were?IMG_4390 This was the hill up to our Villa.

It looks killer, right?IMG_4392 It gets a little better as you get closer to the top, but not much. Our villa was the orange one to the left of the telephone pole.

On Thursday morning Chris and I decided to finally get our butts in gear and go for a walk/run. The weather was not looking so hot which meant no one was really in a rush to leave the house.

Oddly enough, we actually walked down the hill! We started to jog but downhill is really hard on the knees. It especially bothered the one I’ve been having issues with.

Oh, hey donkey!IMG_4396 Thanks for the view.

We walked around Coral Bay for a bit and picked up some milk from the store, then we made our way back up the hill. Only this time we alternated running and walking.IMG_4397I ran to the first telephone pole while Chris carried the groceries and walked. Then he handed over the groceries and ran to the next telephone pole while I walked.  We kept that up until we reached our villa.

This hill was by far the hardest hill I have ever run up! Holy moly. I was huffing and puffing and dripping sweat. It probably didn’t help that the humidity was close to 100% either.

Before we went for our walk/run I ate an English Muffin with peanut butter. And when we got back I had a banana. No photographic evidence though. Sorry.

Then we all packed into the car and drove to Cruz Bay. My brother had to leave and catch the ferry, and we decided to do some shopping because it was supposed to be a wash out all day.

We hit up Mongoose Junction.IMG_4416 Which had a ton of cute shops!IMG_4398 We walked around for a few hours and took a break for lunch at the Deli Grotto.IMG_4399 This place offered several delicious sandwiches, panini’s, and salads.IMG_4402 It was so hard to decide what to order!

I ultimately chose the Smoked Turkey and Artichoke Panini with caramelized onions. This was humongous and outstanding! I ate about 3/4 of it.

And of course I had to have a side of chips :)IMG_4403One cannot have a sandwich without chips!

After lunch we all accompanied Miss Libby on her first date. I do believe it was love at first site for these two. Too bad their relationship was only able to last about ten minutes because Sam had to leave.

The weather started to improve a bit, so we decided to continue shopping and walk to the shops next to the Cruz Bay Ferry.

The first one we hit up was the St. John Spice Shop!IMG_4417 Check out all those spices!

There were several that I’ve never heard of.IMG_4419 Gumbo file? Huh?

I ended up purchasing three different spices.IMG_4603 Adobo, Island BBQ, and Island Herb.

I almost purchased this magnet as well. Hopefully soon enough I will have a job that I love!

Here are some other magnets that caught my eye. IMG_4423There was actually an entire all full of inspirational magnets that I wanted :)IMG_4421 I’m a dork.

Per the recommendation of several friends, we drove down the hill to Skinny Legs for dinner on Thursday night. Chris and I felt right at home with the Boston sports theme! The menu at Skinny Legs mostly has hamburgers (no turkey burgers) so I got the crab cake sandwich special. Which came with potato chips. They’re hidden underneath the bun.

Even though this sandwich doesn’t look like anything special, it was spectacular! The crab was extremely fresh and there was something about the breading that made this taste way better than any other crab cake sandwich I’ve had.

No Banana Grams took place this night :( I believe it was because the Celtics were playing. So I buried my head in my book again! I feel like I never have time to read so this was such a nice treat.

Have a wonderful Memorial Day everyone! Can you believe that tomorrow is June already?! Where does the time go?
