After several trips up and down three sets of stairs, a lot of sweat, and a pat on the pack for not even coming close to filling our POD, we are finally finished moving! And by moving I mean storing all of our belongings in the POD for at least a month while Chris and I stay with my parents outside of Philly during our house hunting process.
The seven hour drive turned into an eight hour one yesterday after a massive amount of traffic, but it feels so good to be done with packing and carrying boxes. SO GOOD.
Durham treated us well the past two years but I am definitely excited to move on. And it’s a nice treat to have some family time in between!
Our last night in Durham was spent at our favorite restaurant, with our closest favorite friends (minus some who moved already!).

The reason we love this place is because there menu changes monthly and offers the freshest local, seasonal ingredients.
To start Chris and I shared the sautéed shrimp and house- cured bacon on a hickory grove cheese biscuit with yellow tomato butter sauce. Did reading that not just make you drool?
This was heaven.
I wanted to lick the plate!
I also enjoyed a hushpuppy with basil mayonnaise.
For an entree I ordered the South Carolina Frogmore Stew with lump crabmeat, shrimp, andouille sausage, fresh corn, tomatoes, and potatoes in a rich seafood broth.
Now I know what you’re thinking. Why would I order hot stew when I’ve been complaining about the heat? Well the restaurant was very chilly from the air conditioning and I needed something to warm up :)
For dessert we all shared a peach cobbler with buttermilk ice cream.
And blackberry sorbet.
That came with a rosemary cookie.
While I did enjoy the peach cobbler, I preferred the sorbet. It was so refreshing!
Great food, great friends. It was a bittersweet evening.
We only have one day at my parents before we head to Boston for the holiday weekend. Then then house hunting begins next week! So excited to not have to rent anymore! I feel so grown up :)
Enjoy your day!

Sucks to see you guys go, but it was great getting to you know you this year! Good luck on the house hunt and getting everything settled up in PA.
Aww that restaurant looks delicious and what a great way to spend your last night!
Moving is always bittersweet. Looks like you all had some yummy farewell food!
Good luck! I’ve been wondering when your big move is! Enjoy the holiday weekend and the time with your family….and house hunting! It’s fun, but stressful at the same time!
Frogmore Stew and hushpuppies? Be still my heart (stomach?)!
Glad the move was pain free! Good luck house hunting :)
That sounds/looks like a great last dinner – but I can’t wait to read about your new adventures in PA!
Believe it or not, in all my four years in Durham, I have not once eaten at Watts Grocery! It’s on my to-do list next time I am in town:)
Mmm… all that food looks perfectly delicious. I love Southern cooking. Beaufort Stew is one of my very favorite foods! sooooo good. I’m going to the beach with one of my friends next weekend, and her dad makes the BEST Beaufort Stew I’ve ever tasted! I can’t wait.
Boston!? Do you have time to grab a drink?
i’ll miss you in the triangle!! at least i’ll get to see you in august in chicago! come back at any time & i will be happy to meet you @ watts :)
Mmm, hickory flavoring is delicious! A rosemary cookie sounds so unique too – it’s one of my favorite herbs!
Peach cobbler is pretty much the best thing ever.
