Happy September! So sad that the summer is technically over. I remember sitting at the pool last October, so hopefully we still have a few summer-like days in the near future!
We started September off with a bang and had egg & cheese sandwiches this morning rather than just cereal.
I used 2 egg whites, and two slices of pepper jack cheese.

I folded over the right half of the eggs on top of the cheese to melt it.
I added a bit of ketchup and tabaso as well.

I used to use mounds of ketchup when I ate eggs, but I have since cut back a bit :)

I also sprinkled some S & P and garlic powder on top of the eggs.

A bagel egg & cheese is one of my favorite breakfast items.

Especially when the cheese oozes out!
The only thing missing from breakfast this morning was fruit, so I brought a bunch of grapes with me to snack on this morning.
So – because today is a new month, I thought it would be a great opportunity for me to develop new fitness goals. You’ve seen that I try to squeeze in some upper body strength training here and there, but I have yet to do any lower body strength training, right?
I used to do lunges and squats and whatnot, but my IT bands are very finicky, and sometimes lunges & squats will irritate them. If you are a new reader, I mentioned a couple weeks ago that IT band problems prevented me from running for almost a year. Boo. So I am very careful to make sure I stretch and roll on the foam roller.
I decided I want to get back into a strength training routine that involves my lower body as well, so that is one of my new goals.
My goal is to dedicate 15-20 minutes of both lower & upper body strength training 2 days a week. Mostly likely I will multitask and perform moves that work both my upper and lower body at the same time. For example, squats with a bicep curl, lunges with lateral arm raises, etc.
What are some of your fitness goals?

Thanks for the comment on my blog, Meg! I can’t wait to read more of yours!
I need to come up with some new fitness goals because I think I’m going to be off running for a while. I’ve had 2 stress fractures, and some new not-yet-diagnosed hip pain. So frustrating!
Yikes – sorry to hear about your stress fractures Sarah! I have been having hip pain too and have no idea what’s causing it! I hate when my body isn’t 100% to run.
