Oh how I wish I was talking about my muscles. But no, I’m talking about my heart. As in heartburn. More to come on that. Bet that makes you excited to read further! Ha!
EDITED TO ADD-
The correct answer to yesterday’s word scramble was KITCHEN! Or, as Handsome Joe and Kath both commented – THICKEN. Technically that is a correct answer as well. Kudos to them for thinking a bit differently :)
Now onto my eats from yesterday!
Lunch was a repeat of Tuesday minus the flat bread.

Tomato, mozzarella, avocado and basil salad with evoo and balsamic vinegar.
Oh how I loved eating this for the past two days yet last night I was cursing my decision to eat so many tomatoes!
So I actually did end up having a flatbread with lunch, only I topped it with hummus this time.
And I topped the hummus with cayenne and garlic powder. Yum. These flatbreads will now be added to my grocery list each week!
I have been slacking on the workout front this week, but that’s mainly because my body is feeling a bit off. I forgot to mention that I did an easy 30 minutes on the elliptical on Tuesday night. I barely broke a sweat though.
I was pressed for time last night and only had about 20 minutes to squeeze in exercise. I tried to take Nylah for a jog, only she is extremely pokey and likes to sniff everything, so we only lasted 8 minutes.
So what did I do for the next 12 minutes? Jump Rope! I shoved Nylah in the dog park while I was jumping rope she she was able to get some exercise as well :)
Seriously, if you only have a few minutes to workout, you should definitely jump rope. I was huffing and puffing and sweating like a pig after 10 minutes!
Dinner…
Our friends Ashley & Matt invited us over for pizza last night. And what a special dinner it was! We were going to find out if they’re having a boy or a girl!
Everyone had to guess what they were having.
And the beautiful appetizers they provided :)
Garlic toast & artichoke spread.
I helped myself to 3 off the toasts & spread.
Dinner was one slice of cheese pizza and Greek salad.
And one Sam Adam’s that was too shy for a photo.
Dessert was chocolate cake!
By this point last night I was doubled over in pain from heartburn. The pain started after my first slice of pizza and got progressively worse during the night.
I do not get heartburn frequently. Maybe once a month? So all I kept thinking was – why in the world do I have such bad heartburn??
Then the light bulb finally went on.
For the past two days I’ve been eating a ridiculous amount of tomatoes! Tomatoes in the stew, tomatoes for lunch…. duh. I don’t think the pizza with tomato sauce helped either :)
In case you don’t know, tomatoes are one of the top 10 foods that cause heartburn as they are highly acidic!
Note to self – don’t eat tomatoes for lunch and dinner two days in a row.
I was not a happy camper last night, hence my lack of blogging.
I feel better today though! In case you were wondering…
Anyone out there have any good heartburn remedies? Tums doesn’t seem to do much for me.

im not sure if i get heart burn… i get indigestion..is that the same? anyway, that party looks super fun!! that is such a pretty couple too!
Ohmigosh that is SO CUTE how they had you vote. I love that idea!
Great, I like all the stuff listed on the “Top 10″ for heartburn! Awhile ago I was getting it really frequently and I tried Prilosec OTC (you take it everyday for 2 weeks or something) and that helped for awhile. I’m eating better these days and don’t get heartburn as often. I usually have Pepto now. Hope you’re feeling better!
Hi Meg, I’m sorry to hear you’ve been experiencing heartburn! Welcome to my world…I’ve been fighting it (and feeling VERY uncomfortable) for about 6 months now. My PCP diagnosed me with “silent heartburn” since my symptoms included chest pain (scary!) and feeling full after only eating a little bit. I went on omeprazole (generic Prilosec) for 3 months, which helped a lot. I’ve totally given up OJ and coffee in the morning, but I still can’t ditch the evening wine and chocolate ;-) I hope you are feeling better today and continue to feel better. I know how you feel–it’s not fun!
I used to never get heartburn and then all of a sudden about a year ago it started and now I get it at least twice a month. Sometimes it comes one really randomly (maybe its the tomatoes? I do love pizza!) But other times, it comes whenever I eat a big dinner and then lay down or hunch over at my desk to do work. I have to like straighten myself up and breathe deeply.. that doesn’t make it go away but it helps a little!
It really sucks though, hope you’re feeling better!
o how i hate heart burn. not fun! glad your feeling better though! :)
OMG! The next thing we’ll be hearing about are your bunions!!! Hahaha – welcome to my world! I can actually post and hopefully help out! Like you, I love hot and spicy and tomatoes which almost never bother me unless I have …stress….when stomach acids are churning. I have two recommendations – read the labels and make your choice, I have had great and immediate success with Ranitidine tables (Zantac over the counter strength) and Famotidine (Pepcid AC over the counter strength) Both give relief to me within probably 10 minutes. To be honest, I rarely have heartburn so when I have to replenish, I get the smallest size with the furthest expiration date between the two brands or even trial sizes of either.
Hope you feel better soon!
Um- I totally have bunions! I’m like 70 :)For some reason the spicy food doesn’t bother me. At least I don’t think it does? I need to be documenting when the heartburn comes on. Thanks for the recommendations!
Heartburn remedies? Low fat diet, especially before bed time. Also, leave about an hour for digestion before laying down (don’t eat a lot at night). Also watch out for spicy foods.
Regarding your comment on my blog, I think the 5-6 days of exercise would include walking, but at a moderate pace (definitely 50-50% VO2 max). An hour of walking would be good but fast walking!
Looks like a fun party!

The icing on that cake looks so good! My sweet tooth would like some:)
i think i remember chewing gum is supposed to help with heartburn, but i may be making that up.
So sorry about your heartburn. Unfortunately, I don’t have any advice….
I haven’t jump roped in years! Thanks for the reminder. It sure is an intense form of exercise!
What a cute way to find out the sex of the baby…
sorry about the heartburn, used to get it but just took tums to make it go away.
