Happy Friday!
I won’t make you wait one second longer to learn who the winner of the Barney Butter is. That’s just the kind of gal I am :)
And the winner is….dun, dun, dun…
Grace from Food-Fitness-FreshAir!
Congrats Grace! Shoot me an email with your address when you have a moment.

I’ve had a great start to the morning as Chris, being the great husband that he is, went to Bruegger’s and Starbuck’s to get us breakfast!
I got my favorite – an everything bagel toasted with jalapeno cream cheese. Creamy, spicy, chewy, crunchy. Love it.
What’s your favorite bagel and cream cheese combo?
Last month I explained my philosophy on eating bagels, and many of you seemed to agree.
Another treat was a grande gingerbread latte (skinny, no whip).
It’s sad to think that the holiday drinks are only going to be available for a few more weeks!
Wondering about the nutritional information for the Starbucks holiday drinks? I took a look at their website and wanted to share some of the information with you.
- Grande gingerbread latte, non-fat, no whip = 200 calories
- Grande peppermint mocha, non-fat, no whip = 290 calories
- Grande eggnog latte, non-fat = 450 calories
Whipped cream adds an extra 70 calories to the non-fat drinks.
Want to see how many calories are in their full-fat (for lack of a better word) drinks?
- Grande gingerbread latte, with whip = 350 calories
- Grande peppermint mocha = 440 calories
- Grande eggnog latte = 480 calories
I find it very interesting that:
- The full-fat eggnog latte is only 30 calories more than the non-fat one (doesn’t seem like it’s worth it to get the non-fat on then?)
- The full-fat gingerbread latte is 100 calories less than the eggnog non-fat latte.
- The non-fat peppermint mocha is 150 calories less than the full-fat one! That’s a lot!
My holiday drinks philosophy is similar to that of bagels. I like to treat myself every once in a while and not feel guilty about it.
I will say that it does make me feel better knowing that the tall non-fat, no whip gingerbread latter (my favorite drink) is only 150 calories. And I don’t indulge in these everyday, just a few times per season.
I also enjoy a peppermint mocha every once in a while, though I haven’t had one yet this season.
Do you find any of this nutritional information interesting?
Gotta go! Peace out!
Have a great day!

Love, love, love the Gingerbread Latte! I treat myself a few times during the holiday season. I actually don’t like bagels, so can’t comment on my favorite. Sometimes I wish I did, they look so delicious. Have a great weekend!
love the gingerbread lattee!!! i need to get one soon , actually. have a great friday girl!
I love everything bagels! I am a plain or fruit cream cheese kinda girl, but jalapeno sounds really good. I wonder if I could make my own…
My favorite bagel is cinnamon raisin with honey walnut cream cheese. I have a little bit of a sweet tooth. I haven’t ever tried the Gingerbread latte but it sounds wonderful, maybe this weekend!
Katie
hey meg! your post is up on my blog! and how nice of chris to get the bagels and coffee! I always look at nutritional stats online haha (im a loser- but I like to know what I am consuming!) I never thought of getting the gingerbread latte before! is it skinny or just nonfat? I find that I dont very much like the skinny ones (with the fake sugar)- tastes too bitter for my liking…so i really hope its just nonfat haha
me again… sick of me yet? haha I just wanted to let you know that I will trying out the “bullet” intervals tomorrow morning at the gym (need to relieve some final exam stress”! I am so so excited! I have never done true interval training before
Your bagel this AM would be right up my boyfriends alley. He LOVES Bruegger’s jalapeno cream cheese. I must admit, it is quite delicious.
My two favorite bagels are from Panera. I love Cinnamon Crunch + plain or their Asiago + plain cc.
Meg, I was just looking at the eggnog latte nutrition info. the other day. I am totally intrigued! How does it have so many more calories than the other ones without much of a variation from skim to whole milk? I’ve decided to stay away from those and stick with the gingerbread latte (with only two pumps, which makes me embarrassed to order it with so many adjectives… tall, non fat, 2 pump, no whip gingerbread latte)
hey! I found your blog via Christina’s. there used to be a brueggers around me but dd took over :( i miss it!
I love everything bagels! My favorite flavor has got to be pumpernickel though. I like them toasted and plain, I just don’t like the way melted cream cheese tastes. But if I want to splurge they’re perfect with some butter spread :) Gosh now I really want a bagel!
I have actually looked at Starbucks’ nutritional stats before and I definitely get my fair share of gingerbread cremes, mistos or lattes during the season! If you keep it to a tall, though, I think it’s an OK treat for almost every day….I don’t like to drink milk by itself, so lattes are a great way to get a relatively low calorie sweet drink and some added calcium/vitamins:)
Your bagel looks SO good- jalapeno cream cheese is DIVINE!
I agree with your drink and bagel philosophy!! to me it’s all about splurges once in a while, real splurges! that way if you only have them once or twice per season they seem sooooo much better and are overall enjoyed a lot more! I hope you had a friday equally as amazing as your breakfast! have a great weekend! xoxo!!
I have two favorite bagel combos…
1. Whole wheat bagel with peanut butter and banana (pre run staple).
2. Everything bagel with ham, egg, and cheddar cheese.
Both have to be toasted ;)
FYI I found you on Christina’s blog. I loved the guest post :)
Some of Starbucks drinks are loaded with calories, and since I’m kind of a Starbucks “addict”, I go the non-sugary route: soy latte. We all have to indulge sometimes though. Cute peace pic =)
Ooohlala I’m super excited to hear this! Thank you!
I agree with you about treating yourself to a drink every once in awhile. I like to occasionally no guilty, treat myself to a frappuccino.
Great post! I do enjoy the info. I try to stay away from Starbucks more fancy drinks because of the money – and addiction!—but I’m definitely getting the GingerBread one soon. My co-workers drink them everyday – with whip!
Oh and congrats to GRACE for the win!! Lover her!
Only a couple more weeks of holiday drinks/cups?!!? How sad :(
Guess i’ll have to get my fix in as much as possible, while home…since they’ll probably stop selling once I get back to school! But yum, peppermint is definitely my fave… I may have to try the gingerbread soon though!
Oh, and i’ve always grown up loving a toasted everything bagel, with SPICY melted cheese and salsa on top! Spicy cream cheese sounds equally delish though….you’re always giving me such good ideas :)
