Happy Friday!

I won’t make you wait one second longer to learn who the winner of the Barney Butter is. That’s just the kind of gal I am :)

And the winner is….dun, dun, dun…

Grace from Food-Fitness-FreshAir!

I’ve had a great start to the morning as Chris, being the great husband that he is, went to Bruegger’s and Starbuck’s to get us breakfast!

IMG_6729 I got my favorite – an everything bagel toasted with jalapeno cream cheese. Creamy, spicy, chewy, crunchy. Love it.

What’s your favorite bagel and cream cheese combo?

Last month I explained my philosophy on eating bagels, and many of you seemed to agree.

Another treat was a grande gingerbread latte (skinny, no whip).

IMG_6723It’s sad to think that the holiday drinks are only going to be available for a few more weeks!

Wondering about the nutritional information for the Starbucks holiday drinks? I took a look at their website and wanted to share some of the information with you.

  • Grande gingerbread latte, non-fat, no whip = 200 calories
  • Grande peppermint mocha, non-fat, no whip = 290 calories
  • Grande eggnog latte, non-fat = 450 calories

Whipped cream adds an extra 70 calories to the non-fat drinks.

Want to see how many calories are in their full-fat (for lack of  a better word) drinks?

  • Grande gingerbread latte, with whip =  350 calories
  • Grande peppermint mocha = 440 calories
  • Grande eggnog latte = 480 calories

I find it very interesting that:

  1. The full-fat eggnog latte is only 30 calories more than the non-fat one (doesn’t seem like it’s worth it to get the non-fat on then?)
  2. The full-fat gingerbread latte is 100 calories less than the eggnog non-fat latte.
  3. The non-fat peppermint mocha is 150 calories less than the full-fat one! That’s a lot!

My holiday drinks philosophy is similar to that of bagels. I like to treat myself every once in a while and not feel guilty about it.

I will say that it does make me feel better knowing that the tall non-fat, no whip gingerbread latter (my favorite drink) is only 150 calories. And I don’t indulge in these everyday, just a few times per season.

I also enjoy a peppermint mocha every once in a while, though I haven’t had one yet this season.

Do you find any of this nutritional information interesting?

Gotta go! Peace out!IMG_6724 Have a great day!
