I knew it. I just knew this would happen.

I’m sick. Again.

Congested head and nose, scratchy throat, annoying cough and low energy.

Let’s hope I can kick this out of my system before we leave for our trip on Sunday!

Any thoughts on quick remedies? Help!

Some of you may dismiss the whole “feed a cold, starve the flu” thing as folklore, but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to fill my belly with a hearty breakfast this morning.

Starting with two scrambled eggs.IMG_4168 Topped with fresh scallions from Bella Bean and a dash of salt & pepper.IMG_4171 I ended up adding  a splash of tabasco as well. What? I thought it would help clear my congestion! :)

In addition to the eggs, I also make 1/2 cup of oats.IMG_4181 In the mix was:

  • 1 cup 1% milk
  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • Strawberries
  • Roasted pecans

IMG_4176 These totally hit the spot! IMG_4178The roasted pecans were from our friends sister. We have a whole tub!IMG_4165 Methinks I may need to make some pecan butter?

Whether or not “feed a cold” is a myth, I need to keep my nutrient levels up while my sickness runs its course.

Even though I wasn’t hungry for lunch and really just wanted to take a nap, I had half of a Kashi pizza that had spinach and mushrooms on it. Only I accidentally deleted the photos from my camera! My memory card was full.

Sorry!

I can show you another time, k? ;)

So do you guys think that “feed a cold, starve the flu” is an old wives tale? What would the rationale be behind it?
